Check the following:

Are the water inlet hoses kinked or clogged?

Are the valve screens clean?

Are both water faucets turned on?

Do you have flood stop water supply hoses that may have closed internally?

Is the Cabrio’s drain hose sticking too far into your home’s drain pipe (siphoning)?

Washer Diagnostic Modes and Tests

Cabrio uL Error Unbalanced Load

Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine Suspension

If the load is unbalanced, the Cabrio washer will display this code while running an imbalanced load correction routine at the end of the wash cycle and before the final spin. If the code remains and the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, open lid and redistribute the load. Close lid and press START.
If the washer is actually going out of balance on a regular basis and the load is similar weighted items at least half full. Then you likely need to replace the suspension spring rod kit. The New Cabrio Suspension Repair Kit comes with all 4 shocks and are common to need replacement. The new Cabrio washer suspension repair kits seem to work better and last longer than earlier versions. Not all Cabrio Suspension kits are exactly the same, so be sure to check the part with your cabrio’s model number before ordering!

Cabrio oL Error Over Loaded (Stored error Code F70)

Is the washer overloaded? The washer has attempted to fill and begin a wash cycle. If the washer is overloaded, it will drain any water and detergent that was added during the fill. To correct the overload, remove several items and add detergent. Close lid and press START.
That’s how it should be perfect world where washing machines are constructed with quality materials. However, in this wasteful world of poor quality the inner tub may be jammed in the down position, unable to float off the drive hub because of a rusted drive shaft! (Removing the inner tub to clean and lubricate the shaft may help.) Or hopefully there is just a sock or something lodged in between the inner and outer baskets causing the same result.

Cabrio Washer Diagnostic Modes and Tests

Cabrio Sd Error Suds Detected (Stored Error Code F71)

Did you use regular detergent?
Regular detergents are not recommended for Cabrio washers. Use only High Efficiency (“HE”) detergent.
Did you add too much detergent?
Always measure detergent and follow detergent directions. If excessive suds are detected, the washer will display this code while running a suds correction routine at the end of the wash cycle. The suds reduction routine removes extra suds and assures proper rinsing of your garments. If the code remains and the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, re-select your desired cycle using cold water. Press START. Do not add detergent.

Cabrio lid Error Lid Opened (Stored Error Code F81)

Is the Cabrio’s lid open?
Close the lid to clear the display. If the lid remains open for more than 10 minutes, water in the washtub should drain out.

Cabrio Washer Lid Lock Diagnostic Tests

Cabrio Po Error Pump Out (Lid Opened)

Po flashes when the lid of the Cabrio washing machine has been left open for more than 10 minutes.  Close the lid to stop the drain pump.

Cabrio HC Error Hot & Cold Hoses Switched

This code will appear at the end of the wash cycle to indicate that the hot and cold-water inlet hoses are reversed. If that is not the case you may need to check the washer’s temperature sensor (in the Cabrio washer’s water valve. Or there may be a problem with the Cabrio’s main control board.

Cabrio dL Error Door/Lid Cannot Lock (Stored Error Codes F80, F82, F84, F85)

Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine Suspension

Indicates the Cabrio’s lid cannot lock.
Check for items caught in the lid keeping it from closing completely.
Is soap, fabric softener, or anything else keeping the lock from extending into the lid?
The control detects an open lid switch, or cannot determine if the lid is locked. Test the lid lock connection to the washer’s control board and lid lock resistance levels.
Press PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear the code.

Cabrio Washer Lid Lock Diagnostic Tests

Cabrio dU Fault Door/Lid cannot unlock (Stored Fault Code F83)

Is there excessive weight on the lid, such as a basket of laundry that my keep the lock tab from moving back into the lid lock? Excessive weight will keep the lid from unlocking.
Is soap, fabric softener, or anything else keeping the lock from moving back into the lid lock?
The washer control board cannot determine if the lid lock is unlocked.  Check lid lock connections to the control and lid lock resistance levels.
Press PAUSE/ CANCEL once to clear the code.

Cabrio F1 Fault Primary Control Failure (Stored Fault Code F60-F68)

The Cabrio’s F1 fault flashes when there is a primary control failure. This is a general code saying something within the control has gone wrong. Before you replace the machine control assembly unplug and reconnect all of the wire connections several times to make sure that they are making good contact. If that doesn’t work try this link. Control Module part# W10189966

Cabrio F2 Fault Keypad/User Interface Failure (Stored Fault Code F2)

The Cabrio’s F2 fault displays when in:
• Diagnostics Test mode if a stuck key is detected.
• Standby mode if there is a user interface mismatch. More Information

Cabrio F40 Fault ATC Thermistor Open/Short (Stored Fault Code F40)

The Cabrio’s F40 fault code flashes on the washing machine’s display when the washer control detects an open or shorted ATC Thermostat. The ATC Thermostat is located on the washing machine’s water valve.

Cabrio F41 Fault Motor RPS Thermistor Open/ Shorted (Stored Fault Code F41)

The Cabrio’s F41 fault code flashes only during diagnostic testing on the washing machine’s display if the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) thermostat is detected as open or shorted by the washing machines control.

Cabrio F50 Fault (Stored Fault Code F50) Motor Stalled

The Cabrio’s F50 fault code flashes on the washing machine’s display when the
motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation.

Does the Cabrio’s inner wash basket turn freely?

Remove the inner tub and look for objects that may be keeping the tub from moving freely, like a sock or small towel.

Check all RPS connections for good contact.

See Cabrio Washer Motor diagnostic Tests

Cabrio F51 Fault (Stored Fault Code F51)

The Cabrio’s F51 fault code flashes on the washing machine’s display when there is a motor rotor position sensor (RPS) failure.

Check for good contact at the control Board and at the RPS. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting the RPS plug connection several times will clean off corrosion that may be affecting the contacts.

Cabrio F52 Fault (Stored Fault Code F52)

The Cabrio’s F52 fault code flashes on the Cabrio’s display when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses rotation after a stop command.

See Cabrio Washer Motor diagnostic Tests

Cabrio F53 Fault (Stored Fault Code F53)

The Cabrio’s F53 fault code flashes on the washing machine’s display when the washing machine control detects a high temperature at the motor.

Does the inner wash basket turn freely?

If not, determine the cause of friction.

Cabrio F54 Fault (Stored Fault Code F54)

The Cabrio’s F54 fault code flashes on the washing machine’s display when the Washing machine control detects high current at the washer’s motor.

Does the inner wash basket turn freely?

If not, determine the cause of friction.

See Washer Motor diagnostic Tests

Cabrio F72 Fault (Stored Fault Code F72)

The Cabrio’s F72 fault code flashes on the washing machine’s display when the basket check routine fails to determine if the basket has re-engaged the basket hub after being disengaged.

Is the basket floating? If yes, pump out water. See Long Drain.

If not, determine the cause of friction. It is fairly common for a small wash item like a sock to get stuck under the Cabrio’s inner wash tub and keep it from reengaging the washers drive hub. The Cabrio washer’s inner tub should slide easily up and down on the drive shaft. It is also common for this shaft to rust and cause drag. Removing the inner drum for a good shaft cleaning often will fix the washer with no replacement parts.
